Birthday Optimism: Gone to the Dogs

This week in our Podcast of Optimism, Christine Andrew--filling in as special guest host-- joins Jackie Monroe in a discussion featuring an article in the New York Times about the headway being made around the globe in the protection of sharks.

A delicacy in many Asian countries, shark fin soup has helped fuel the demand for sharks and has propelled it to be a billion dollar per year industry. However, many environmental and animal protection groups have gotten involved in the fight against commercial shark fishing and are now seeing some ground being made toward a hopeful end to this controversial issue.

The discussion also includes how the advent of social media has helped to propel causes worldwide, and engage and education millions of people on new topics, everyday.

The Ebony Duo: Ever Inspiring Optimism

Jackie's puppy Jasper and Dr. Russ's puppy Sofie have been with us at the office just over a month now. 

They've grown in size, strength, and personality. We have come to realize just how much they inspire us to be optimistic, loving, and selfless.
