Dana Jackson was 99 when she agreed to marry Bill Stauss, 87, with the wedding set for the same day as her 100th Birthday! They were married on February 6, 2012 in a Kentucky nursing home. Check out this cute video, and take Dana's advice: "It's not what you got, but what you make out of a marriage." We would say the same tip holds true for any and all relationships!
This week in our Podcast of Optimism, Dr. Russ dubs February as the National "Do-Over" Month and gives us some concrete tips on how to practice the do-over in the month of February. If you're looking for strategies to help make this psychologically LONG month filled with more optimism, listen to this podcast!
We also hear an update regarding the still-squatted-on Buss (sadly, the Buss isn't safely back in the Moment-to-Moment garage...yet!) and discuss why it doesn't matter that some "trusted" groundhogs saw their shadows yesterday while others did not.

At the beginning of 2011, Red Peak Branding and Hudson Urban Bicycles started an experiment on the streets of New York City: they locked a fully loaded bicycle out on the street and took a fresh picture of it every day for the whole of 2011.
Watch this short video Red Peak produced and see if you can guess what this bike has to do with optimism:
The bike remained in tact for several months but then little by little, piece by piece, more and more of its parts started to go missing. At first it was just small, unnecessary details, like the water bottle, the lights, then the basket. Soon, though, larger more important parts were stolen away and before long, only the frame was left...useless without it's other working parts.
Like the bike, if we leave our optimism unattended and left to fend for itself, we will find that it gets depleted; stripped away more and more everyday that it is left unattended.
That's why it's not enough to simply make the choice to be optimistic, but to understand that with that choice comes the promise of daily maintenance and a commitment to renew the optimistic perspective each morning as your feet in the floor.
Your Tip this week is to recommitt yourself to optimism and remember that there is daily maintance involved in keeping your optimism fresh, flowing, and accessible anytime!
